Taking care on product sortation

To sort a product it must be known to the system. For this we have many possibilities. It is possible to divide identification in several groups, i.e.:

Barcode
OCR/video
RFID 

There are fixed and moving barcode readers which products read from 1 to all sides. But there are also handscanners to read the barcode, this is often used at sortation systems where there is manual induction or manual release of the product. At the  sortation of post and parcels they often use OCR (Optical Caracter Recognition) and video. If the product is not identified with OCR the pictures are sent to an operator which identify the product manually.

In the present time there is also increasing request for RFID identification. On the product is a special chip attached and with an RFID scanner is identified which product it is.
